timeless moments, intentionally painted
A + J's desert botanical gardens wedding was so intimate and lovely. This live wedding painting was a surprise for the bride & groom from the sister of the bride. It was gifted about a month out from the wedding so the couple had the opportunity to decide what they wanted the painting to look like. A & J asked for a natural, candid moment of them walking through the desert (they got married at the Desert Botanical Gardens in Pheonix). Their only requests were that the scenery be the focus of the painting & to include the plants and the mountain somehow. That being said, I had a lot of freedom with this painting!

This black tie, Sedona wedding was the definition of classy & elegant. K + T wanted a ceremony exit painting highlighting the red rock scenery at the Enchantment in Sedona & their endless florals. K mentioned a few times to me that she went overboard with how many flowers they planned for the event and she was not exaggerating! I really wanted this painting to showcase just how beautiful this scene was. In addition to the live painting, they added on some guest portrait painting for their 13 guests to receive during the cocktail hour so I switched gears for that part of the event before going back to the oil painting for the rest of the night.

It wouldn't be a Flagstaff wedding if it weren't in the trees! K + A asked for their first kiss as husband and wife to be painted. They asked for the golf course, trees, and pond behind them to be painted as well as a hummingbird and dragonfly to be included (representing two people who have passed in K's life). Because of the rain on their wedding day, we had to shift gears for this painting. I asked them what they would want in the case we had to move locations for rain and they said they wanted the exact same painting as if they were in the original site. So, that's what we did! This is their first kiss as husband and wife but with a fabricated background, created using a few different reference photos of the original location.

My process for live oil painting focuses on learning what parts of your day are the most important to YOU. Not everyone has experience with painting or even with art. My goal is to get to know you as a couple so that way you don't have to remember to tell me every little thing you want in your painting. On the day-of I should have everything I need to make your dream oil painting.
My style is rooted in realism with a touch of romanticism—faithful to the scene, yet thoughtfully enhanced to evoke mood and feeling. Choosing a wedding painter is a deeply personal decision, and it’s important that the artist’s style resonates with your own, as this is a piece you’ll cherish for a lifetime.
