Before heading back to Edinburgh, we stopped to hike to the Falls of Bruar and make one last painting on the road. This painting was a challenge for many reasons. It was a very busy scene with lots of foliage, the bridge had many details I needed to simplify and the lighting kept changing because of the clouds that day. That being said, I absolutely loved the way this painting turned out. For almost the entire time I was painting, I was getting very frustrated and just kept thinking about how much I disliked this one. Ironically, most of the time those paintings end up being the best ones.
